2018 Pre Season Air Displays Symposium

The R5 team have just spent a couple of wet and windy days at the Defence Academy at Shrivenham for the 2018 Pre Season Air Displays symposium. Each year, owners, pilots, organisers and regulators get together to discuss, challenge and work through issues facing the airshow industry, as well as learning and looking at new regulation. Its also a great place to network and discuss new acts and items for shows.

The 2018 was led by the CAA and MAA, with a generally positive outcome and alot of positive actions from the CAA which will help make organise displays easier and reduce costs for smaller shows. There are still challenges and un resolved items for the 2018 season, but there were several positives, including the return of ex-military straight wing jets being allowed to complete fully aerobatic displays overland and the reduction in costs for small displays (1-3 items).  On the whole a really positive input from the CAA, which is great to see. Equally the MAA were also positive in their outlook for the 2018 season, with a few changes to their regulations, which will make life a bit simpler for all concerned.

Roll on DS18! Its not long to wait now!
